PHILANTHROPY

Here in the Alpha chapter, the main camp that we support is Camp Good Days and Special Times of Syracuse. Camp Good Days allows children who have, or have been affected by cancer, to have a summer camp experience.

NATIONAL PHILANTHROPY

Gamma Phi Beta’s national philanthropy is camping for girls. Gamma Phi supports Campfire USA and Girl Guides of Canada. Gamma Phi Beta adopted camping as its national philanthropy after a sister met a young girl who had never been to camp. She wanted to afford this opportunity that she had to other young girls. Gamma Phi Beta believes that camp helps girls develop necessary leadership skills and enhance themselves. In fact, Gamma Phi even used to operate its own camp in which sisters acted as counselors! The Colorado Camp was founded in 1925 near Denver. Although the camp no longer operates, Gamma Phi still supports many camp organizations for the development of young people into leaders.

CRESCENT CLASSIC

In the spring we developed our new annual philanthropy, Capture the Crescent. Fraternities, Sororities and Campus organizations competed in a capture the flag tournament to benefit Camp Good Days.

We even had a special game before the tournament began – our sisters played a game of capture the flag with kids from Camp Good Days. Not only was it a fun day, but we got to spend time with the children, and we raised a lot of funds for Camp Good Days!
